How does statutory leave affect induction?
ECTs who take statutory leave during their induction (or any extension of it) may choose whether to extend their induction to cover the days missed. No assessments should be completed until the ECT returns and has had the chance to make this decision, and any request to extend must be approved. If an ECT decides not to extend, they will still be assessed against the Teachers’ Standards. It is advisable for ECTs in this situation to seek guidance before deciding.
The Induction Tutor must contact the appropriate body if an ECT takes statutory leave so the appropriate body can provide personalised advice.
