How often should an ECT be observed?
The DfE states that observations should take place at regular intervals. Good practice is recognised as once per half-term.

Where are lesson observations stored?
Feedback from the observation must provided in a prompt manner and is constructive, with a written record made on each occasion. Any written record will indicate where any development needs have been identified. It is recommended that lesson observations are uploaded to ECT Manager to the ECT’s documents area. The minimum expectation that at least one of the half-termly observations is uploaded to ECT Manager at the same time as that term’s professional progress review or assessment is submitted.
|
Who can complete the lesson observations?
The induction tutor is responsible for coordinating the lesson observations. Observations of the ECT may be undertaken by the induction tutor or another suitable person from inside or outside the institution. The observer must hold QTS. It the induction tutor is not conducting the lesson observation, then it is strongly recommended that there are quality assurance mechanisms in place.
